St Michel, Nanclars, Charente
12th century romanesque church of St Michel with its square bell tower. 
Note the very simple door and the small decorated window (suggest an earlier beginning of construction)
The church is narrow but very high, stoup is believed to date from 13th century.
Christ in Majesty surrounded by angels
The recently discovered wall paintings date from the 12th to the 16th century. On the right, musical angels.
The "litre funéraire" with the arms of the La Rochefoucauld family (whose castle is not far), topped by a crown and a tub in which Mélusine (mermaid) is combing her beautiful blond hair with a mirror in her other hand.
