Ruins of the medieval Abbey of St Mary (also known as St Dogmaels Abbey). "Founded in 1115 by the Fitzmartin family of Cemais, established by the Order of Tiron, a medieval monastic order, with 117 abbeys in France, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. This order of Tiron (or grey monks), 1106 was founded by the Benedictine Bernard de Ponthieu, also known as Bernard d'Abbeville (1046–1117), In 1118. This order was founded in reaction to the laxity of the other orders of the time. (Wikipedia). The abbey was dissolved in 1536.
