Coventry Cathedral, West Midlands: fragments of medieval glass (15th C)
Coventry's historic city centre suffered extensive damage after being bombed by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. But the cathedral's ancient stained glass windows were salvaged, and some of them are now on display in fragments. This face probably comes from the scene of the Last Judgement (Vidimus).
Crowned angel
Face, with pretty hair and fragments of wings
After the stained glass windows were destroyed, the fragments (15th C) were all cleaned and put together like a puzzle. Faces, pieces of wings and clothing, foliage, flowers. The colors are all intense and magnificent.
