Usually understood as "4 angels preventing the 4 winds to blow", but another explanation is related to James 3:4-10 : horns don't represent winds, but 4 bad uses of speech by the men, prevented by the angels : "no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison"
